Reformer Pilates has been around since the 1920’s when Joseph Pilates refined the design of the reformer after using bands for resistance for patients in hospital beds during WW1. The reformer has remained an essential piece of equipment that is able to facilitate a full range of movement which helps to lengthen the muscles and therefore, improve flexibility. Reformer exercises can also helped to improve strength by increasing the resistance of exercises. Like mat Pilates reformer Pilates helps to improve balance and alignment of the body. It will also improve your posture by bringing more awareness into the position of your body.
The reformer is very versatile, you can use the machine in all different positions which helps to stretch and strengthen the body as a whole system.
It is essential that you have had permission from your GP to exercise before signing up for exercise sessions.
